ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skill, Experience)
-Secondary School diploma.
-Medical Device Reprocessing Certification mandatory.
-Minimum one year current experience (within the past 3 years) working in a centralized sterile environment.
-Computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Intranet, Risk Monitor Pro and inventory software.
-Demonstrated knowledge and experience with instrument handling at least two years.
-O.R. experience an asset.
-Satisfactory attendance.

ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES (Personal Skills and Attributes)
-Possess an in-depth knowledge of instrument sets, including individual names of instruments.
-Understanding of inventory management.
-Knowledge of asepsis principles and sterilization protocols.
-Organizational skills.
-Able to problem solve with little supervision.
-Able to work accurately while working alone or on a team, with excellent interpersonal skills.
-Knowledge of Operating Room/Emergency Room instruments and trays.
-Utilization, names and descriptions, care and handling of instruments.
-Demonstrated ability to support and embrace the philosophy of Service Excellence and Patient and Family Centred Care.
-Demonstrated participation in building a culture of safety and partnering with each other to improve the safety of patient care processes and systems.

ACCOUNTABILITIES (Major Responsibilities of the Position)
-Carries out daily functions in MDR including decontamination, reprocessing, instrument care and handling, sterilization, ordering supplies and case cart preparation in accordance with CSA standards, AAMI, CSAO standards and OHSA.
-Ability to clean instruments, stainless steel and equipment.
-Ensures safe handling of all instrumentation.
-Maintains inventory of sterile/unsterile instrument and supplies.
-Ensures proper picking / packing of case cart system according to established guidelines.
