Temporary Regular Part-Time
From May 1, 2013 to December 14, 2013
POSTING DATE: 17 April 2013
CLOSING DATE: 24 April 2013
Upon completion of this temporary position the successful candidate will revert to their former position and the filling of subsequent vacancies will likewise be reversed.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skill and Experience)
-Current Certificate of Competence as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
-Current BCLS certificate.
-A minimum of 2 years current inpatient psychiatric experience.
-Previous/current training in non-violent crisis intervention techniques and/or CPI.
-Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and Mental Health Reform.
-Certification in Psychiatric nursing preferred.
-Member of RNAO preferred
ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES (Personal Skills and Attributes)
-Ability to work with minimal supervision.
-Ability to work in an inter-disciplinary team setting.
-French language an asset.
-Interest in working with seriously mentally ill.
-Excellent communication skills.
-Competence to participate in the role of mental health crisis response.
-Demonstrated ability to support and embrace the philosophy of Service Excellence and Patient and Family Centred Care.
-Demonstrated participation in building a culture of safety and partnering with each other to improve the safety of patient care processes and systems.
-Demonstrated performance reflecting the Mission, Vision, Values and Code of Conduct of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.
ACCOUNTABILITIES (Major Responsibilities of the Position)
-Meet the ethical and legal requirements of professional practice from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
-Demonstrate competence at his/her current level of knowledge and refrain from practicing beyond this level.
-Utilizes the nursing process in the delivery of nursing care.
-Acts as a patient advocate through his/her actions with patients/family and other health care providers.
-Records data in the health record according to policies and procedures.
-Ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained.
-Work efficiently in teams, both as a leader and a member.
-Full participation in the Crisis Program is required.
According to the French Language Services Implementation Plan, priority consideration will be given to qualified candidates who possess knowledge of Canada's two official languages.
