POSITION:
MRI Technologist

DEPARTMENT:
Diagnostic Imaging

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skill, Experience)
-Completion of a recognized post diploma program in MRI, or recognized equivalent with MRI certification.
-Registration with the College of Medical Radiation Technologists of Ontario (CMRTO).
-Registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
-Contrast injection course.
-Basic Cardiac Life Support (B.C.L.S.) program, level II: Basic Rescuer certification.
-Two years recent experience in MRI preferred
-Demonstrate strong computer skills. PACS experience preferred.
-Ability to follow up on unusual or unexpected results, problems with procedures, faulty equipment etc.
-Willing to work shift work/weekends/call back and statutory holidays if necessary.
-Thorough knowledge of the theory and practices of MRI procedures, technical applications, and advanced MR imaging techniques.
-Thorough knowledge of primary and ancillary equipment, its operation.

ACCOUNTABILITIES (Major Responsibilities of the Position)
-Under general direction of the Diagnostic Imaging Manager/Charge Technologist of MRI, the Technologist is responsible for accurately and efficiently performing all routine images, safety and quality control procedures
-Keen ability to prioritize and respond effectively to changing workload demands.
-Must demonstrate excellent technical skills, and ability to be innovative under difficult conditions.
-Must demonstrate a high degree of professional commitment.
-Ability to follow up on unusual or unexpected results, problems with procedures and equipment, etc.
-Willing to learn new procedures as outlined in departmental policy and procedure manual.
-Responsible for providing excellent patient care and the production of high quality MR Imaging through technical expertise.
-Work effectively and efficiently to accommodate departmental guidelines and agreements.
-Willing to work shift work/weekends/call back and statutory holidays if necessary.
-Maintains high level of technical expertise and seeks ongoing professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations.
-Carries out other duties as requested by the Manager of Diagnostic Imaging, or Charge Technologist MRI.
