This temporary position may be extended or end earlier if no longer required.

Upon completion of this temporary position the successful candidate will revert to their former position and the filling of subsequent vacancies will likewise be reversed.


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skill, Experience)
-Current Certificate of Competence as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
-BScN preferred.
-Current BCLS.
-3-5 years experience (within the last 2 years) in Perinatal care (OB triage, labour & delivery skills, intrapartum, post partum), Paediatric & Level II Nursery
-Certification and experience within last 2 years in Fetal Health Surveillance and Neonatal Resuscitation.
-Completion of Breastfeeding Education Course
-IV certification.
-Certification in added nursing skills required for caring for Perinatal/Paediatrics patients.
-Demonstrated problem solving skills.
-Certification in Paediatric advanced life support (PALS) preferred.
-Perinatal Education course preferred.
-Canadian Nurses Association Perinatal Nursing Certification preferred.
-Satisfactory Attendance
-Member of RNAO perferred

ACCOUNTABILITIES (Major Responsibilities of the Position)
-Provision of nursing care to meet the Standards of Practice of the Ontario College of Nurses
-Effectively communicates and collaborates with the inter-professional team to plan, implement and evaluate patient care, involving the patient and family
-Act as a liaison for patients/families with members of the health care team
-Embrace and participate in timely implementation of change initiatives
-Maintain a safe environment for patients/families, visitors, staff, volunteers and physicians
-Actively participates on various unit, program and hospital committees supporting our goals & objectives in addition to initiatives that support continuous quality improvement.
-Adheres to CKHA's attendance standards by maintaining personal health and ensuring regular and prompt attendance at work.
