ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skill and Experience)
- Knowledge of recruitment and retention techniques and practices including experience in promotional and marketing techniques.
- Experience working with physicians and professional staff (midwives, dentists, nurse practitioners).
- Knowledge of salary, benefit administration plans and the administration of both, including Physician Specialist contracts.
- Computer literate, including the ability to utilize a variety of desktop applications.
- Proven ability to effectively communicate, both in writing and orally, with strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to understand, interpret, apply and communicate a wide variety of health care, financial, privacy and general administration. legislation, policies, protocols and processes.
- Experience in a hospital environment preferred.
- Leadership experience, formal or informal.
- Excellent attendance.

ACCOUNTABILITIES (Major Responsibilities of the Position)
- Providing support of the credentialing and medical staff applications/reapplications process
- Supporting medical human resources planning for all departments
- Overseeing medical staff recruitment and physician retention for CKHA
- Supporting orientation process for all physicians
- Attend career fairs, recruitment fairs and trade show events as needed
- Schedule and coordinate site visits, interviews, tours, etc with candidates
- Establish strong working relationships with relevant external agencies (CPSO, Healthforce Ontario, FHTs, CHC, CK Physician Recruitment and Retention Committee)
- Represent the CKHA Medical Affairs Department internally and externally in a professional manner at all times.

Enhances quality of care and contributes to the development of a client centered, team-based, learning environment by:

- Participating as a member of project teams or committees as appropriate;

- Improves Medical Affairs leadership and hospital job knowledge by knowledge-sharing, attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; and creating information sharing partnerships regarding best practices, participation in a network of competent external resources
- Adheres to attendance standards by maintaining personal health and ensuring regular and prompt attendance at work.
- Manage the administrative, informational, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, clinical compliance and operational functions for pharmacy.
- Assume responsibility for developing plans and initiating procedures (concerning staffing,
scheduling, education, systems analysis, and personnel development, hiring) within the department.
- Assist the Director with preparation and follow-up of capital expenditures, operating and personnel budgets.
- Assume responsibility for cost control and operating expenditures.
- Be familiar with current hospital personnel policies and procedures and have knowledge of their purpose and intent.
- Requires the ability to follow-through on commitments in an orderly fashion.
- Coordinate the hiring and performance management of staff. Develop staff scheduling plans to maximize staff, maximize efficiencies and department deliverables while minimizing overtime.
- Participate in planning, data collection, and the preparation of reports as appropriate.
- Mentor staff and subordinates in enhancing their management and leadership skills.
- Represent the department at assigned meetings, and other internal and external activities. Exhibit leadership behaviours and assume a liaison role with other departments to ensure ongoing lines of communication and quality improvement activities.
