ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skill, Experience)
-Graduate of two-year approved Medical Office Assistant Program from a recognized Community college.
-Computer/Technical skills: Demonstrated keyboarding and Switchboard panel proficiency and demonstrated knowledge of Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet functions.
-Must be able to work day, afternoon and night shifts with minimal call-in notice
-Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
-Demonstrated knowledge of Star ADT system a definite asset.
-Prior medical office experience a definite asset.
-Demonstrated professional telephone skills.
-Satisfactory attendance.

-Detail oriented: Must be able to accurately collect and data enter patient information as a first entry-point of patient care.
-Team skills: Must be able to actively work as a departmental and organization team member through interpersonal skills and networking,
-Demonstrated Self Development/Initiative: Must be able to take initiative toward process improvement, including pursuit of self-development and leaderful acts.
-French language fluency an asset.
-Demonstrated ability to support and embrace the philosophy of Service Excellence and Patient and Family Centred Care.
-Demonstrated participation in building a culture of safety and partnering with each other to improve the safety of patient care processes and systems.
-Demonstrated performance reflecting the Mission, Vision, Values and Code of Conduct of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

ACCOUNTABILITIES (Major Responsibilities of the Position)
-Welcomes, greets and serves patients and visitors, assists and directs as necessary. Provides accurate, efficient patient registration and admitting functions on an automated patient information system.
-Performs all switchboard duties including overhead paging and response to emergency situations in compliance with Hospital emergency policies and procedures
-Adheres to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures, and Regulatory and Accreditation standards.
-Aligns behavior with CKHA Mission, Vision and Values and Code of Conducts. Participates in the development, implementation and achievement of program goals and objectives and the CKHA Strategic Plan.
-Participates in building a just culture of safety and patient care processes and systems by using sound judgment. Supports and participates in quality improvements, risk management and patient safety activities departmentally and organization wide.
-Improves patient registration and hospital job knowledge through continual education and knowledge-sharing.
-Adheres to attendance standards by maintaining personal health and ensuring regular and prompt attendance at work.
