ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skill, Experience)
- Regulated health professional with a University degree in a health services field, Masters degree preferred
- Five years recent clinical experience in acute mental health
- Three years previous clinical leadership experience in a progressive leadership role
- Current membership in the appropriate professional College required and affiliate memberships as desired
- Experience with working in an interprofessional team environment
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge and application of CNO standards of practice and Mental Health best practices
- Good verbal and written communications skills evidence of academic and/or proposal writing.
- Experience in project management and utilization of data to guide resource allocation and quality improvement
- Satisfactory attendance.

ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES (Personal Skills and Attributes)
- Demonstrate excellent knowledge of clinical best practices for acute mental health and the ability to provide effective leadership
- Evidence of strong interpersonal and leadership skills and abilities including but not limited to: communication, responsiveness, conflict resolution,
change management, visionary, organizational skills, and decision making skills
- Demonstrated ability to coach/mentor and inspire a culture of collaboration and teamwork
- Knowledge and application of adult learning and learning theories - facilitate learning of staff - develop, implement, design and revise education
- Demonstrated facilitation, change management, conflict resolution, project management, and coordination skills.
- Ability to determine feasibility of potential research, educational or clinical initiatives.
- Teamwork - Ability to build and direct team effort with physicians and staff
- Strong computer skills utilizing MS Office Suite products (Word, Excel, Power Point), MS Outlook and ESM.
- Ability to identify potential for patient or institutional risk and intervene appropriately through follow up and investigation of safety reports.
- Knowledge of current and future trends in mental health and the ability to use knowledge for program planning, development and evaluation.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize work in a continuously changing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to role model through the interest in the development of self and others. Identifies own learning needs and seeks opportunities to bring evidence based best practices
- Demonstrated ability to support and embrace the philosophy of Patient and Family Centred Care.
- Demonstrated participation in building a culture of safety and partnering with each other to improve the safety of patient care processes and systems.

ACCOUNTABILITIES (Major Responsibilities of the Position)
- Ensures quality patient care throughout day to day planning and coordination of human and material resources for the Mental Health Program
- Fulfill the role of Officer in Charge delegate
- Labour relations. Working knowledge of relevant collective agreements (i.e. ONA, CLAC, OPSEU)
- Human and financial resource management
- Participates in organizational and/or regional projects/committees as required
- Provides professional practice support to the Mental Health Program as needed
- Coordinates the use of Best Practice Guidelines at CKHA together with Best Practice Champions.
- Accountable for determining and administering appropriate level of remediation/discipline in collaboration with Human Resources and Initiate practice issue
related discussions as outlined in CKHA standardized process.
- Performance management and Performance reviews. Monitors and assesses clinical practice based on Regulated Health Professional practice standards
CKHA policies, procedures, standards of care and develops learning plans/opportunities.
- Promotes the advancement of professional practice through an active role and leadership roles with and the development of inter-professional practice
- Assists with monitoring of current registration of Regulated Health Professionals
- Provides leadership and mentorship to professional staff regarding educational activities and initiatives.
- Administrator on call
- Provides leadership to Psychiatry Assessment Nurses (PAN) and Mobile Crisis outreach team
