ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skill, Experience)
-A current certificate of competence as an RN in Ontario.
-BScN preferred.
-Certified in the initiation of intravenous lines by venipuncture/care of central venous access devices/ administration of IV narcotics below drip chamber.
-Certified in the Basic Life Support.
-Current acute medicine experience.
-Palliative Care Level I and Level II preferred.
-Gerontological diploma preferred.
-Member of RNAO preferred
-Satisfactory attendance.

-Exhibits skills and knowledge re palliative care nursing, health teaching skills.
-Knowledge of Adult Care in Diabetes, coronary syndromes, COPD and CHF.
-Excellent assessment skills.
-Demonstrated ability to support and embrace the philosophy of Service Excellence and Patient and Family Centred Care.
-Demonstrated participation in building a culture of safety and partnering with each other to improve the safety of patient care processes and systems.
-Demonstrated performance reflecting the Mission, Vision, Values and Code of Conduct of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

ACCOUNTABILITIES (Major Responsibilities of the Position)
-Meet the ethical and legal requirements of professional practice from the College of Nurses of Ontario
-Demonstrate competence at his/her current level of knowledge and refrain from practicing beyond this level
-Utilizes the nursing process in the delivery of nursing care
-Acts as a patient advocate through his/her actions with patients/family and other health care providers
-Records data in the health record according to policies and procedures
-Ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained
-Work efficiently in teams, both as a leader and a member
