ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skill, Experience)
-Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Masters preferred)
-Current registration with College of Nurses of Ontario.
-Demonstrated progressive leadership skills with 3 years previous management experience within a clinical setting.
-Minimum 5 years previous Nursing experience in a Women & Children's setting
-Participation on various hospital committees and quality improvement initiatives.
-Experience in project management and utilization of data to guide resource allocation and quality improvement initiatives
-Provides leadership in the application of nursing knowledge to nursing staff and Interprofessional
Team.
-Demonstrated advanced knowledge and application of CNO Guidelines and Standards of Practice
-RNAO membership preferred.
-Satisfactory attendance.

-Excellent Knowledge of clinical best practices for obstetrics, paediatrics and special care nursery and the ability to provide effective leadership

ACCOUNTABILITIES (Major Responsibilities of the Position)
-Ensures quality patient care throughout day to day planning and coordination of human and
material resources for the Women & Children's unit.
-Facilitates day to day coordination of patient /family needs with appropriate care team provider.
-Oversees patient/family and staff safety.
-Education, orientation and staff development.
-Labor relations. Working knowledge of relevant collective agreements (i.e., ONA, Unifor, OPSEU).
-Human and financial resource management.
-Performance management and Performance reviews
-Quality improvement utilizing Lean 6/Sigma methodology.
-Participates in LHIN & MOHLTC projects as required.
-Administrative on-call
-Ensures accurate and timely implementation of change initiatives
-Identifies gaps in :
- Quality of care
- Quality of performance-knowledge, skill and judgement, and interprofessional relationships
- Resource utilization-fiscal responsibility
- Ethical decision making
-Seen as role model in critical thinking, practice, professionalism, communication, and relationships
-Expert knowledge and application in all components of communication.
- accurate and timely documentation
- knowledge of potential risk factors that trigger appropriate escalation of patient/family/staff/concerns/risks
- conflict resolution (patient/family concerns, staff to staff, staff to physician, physician to staff)
-Knowledge and application to above is completed within the context of:

-Facilitate and coordinate the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the care of seniors and their families
-Ensure an interprofessional approach to care, recognizing the unique contribution of each team
member.
-Support the development and implementation of quality improvement processes, including metrics and performance indicators.
-Coach, mentor, support, and facilitate the creation and maintenance of an environment that fosters creativity, and professional judgment.
-Identify trends, issues and challenges requiring change in practice patterns or processes.
-Work closely with internal and external stakeholders on planning, development and improvement activities for senior care services.
